Diaper Need Awareness Week is Sept. 18-24, when diaper banks across the country work together to raise awareness about diaper needs within their community and rally support for their programs.
The St. Louis Area Diaper Bank is hosting a number of events during the week, with a goal of working with the community to collect 150,000 diapers before Sept. 24.
The events start this coming Sunday. If you buy tickets to the Sept. 17 City SC match through this link, a portion of the cost will go to the Diaper Bank.
On Monday, Sept. 18, you can join Diaper Bank staff, board members and volunteers for coffee and muffins at noon at the Diaper Bank warehouse to learn more about what the Diaper Bank does. You can RSVP here.
Wednesday, Sept. 20 is Wrap-It Wednesday, where volunteers get together to unbox diapers, pack and label items together with love notes, and wrap them together to ensure cleanliness during transportation. Sign up for a shift here.
On Friday, Sept. 22, the Diaper Bank’s Young Advocates Group (YAG) is hosting Bottoms & Brews, an informative happy hour. The event runs from 4-6 p.m. and will be at Hearth and Soul, located at 9640 Clayton Road. YAG leaders will speak about current legislature and donation efforts. YAG is a diverse group of emerging leaders between the ages of 21 and 40 who are dedicated to supporting and advocating the mission of the Diaper Bank. RSVP for Bottoms & Brews here.
The biggest event is Fill the Warehouse on Saturday, Sept. 23. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Diaper Bank will be open for people to drop off diapers. If you're interested in hosting a drive before that and dropping off your diapers then, you can register your drive here. You can buy diapers from the Diaper Bank's wishlist here.
One in two families experience diaper need, and diapers are critical to keeping children clean and healthy. Diaper Bank works with more than 70 partners to identify families experiencing diaper need, and each month distributes more than 200,000 diapers to the community through those partners.
