Please see the following message from UMSL Center for Eye Care:
Due to changes in the school year from COVID-19, our Mobile Eye Van schedule is being revamped to begin on October 1, 2020. As we get closer to the date and as the schools move through their first quarter (most of which are being done online or in a hybrid model), we will begin to reach out to confirm new dates for the schools
In the meanwhile, we understand that kids still need to see—“You can’t read if you can’t see, and if you can’t see, you can’t succeed!” These words ring true whether you’re learning in-person, at home, or online! Even though our Mobile Eye Van will not be up and running, our three area locations are scheduling appointments and working with people of all ages (from 6 months and upwards!) at our clinics. We are opening up more appointment availability to meet the needs of the community, so please keep us in mind if you know of anyone who has a visual need, or lost or broken eyeglasses. Our facilities have adopted updated sanitization protocols and social distancing, and are a safe place for people of all ages to receive vision care!
Please note that we work with most major medical and vision insurance plans in the St. Louis area; patients with Medicaid or state-funded plans usually have no out-of-pocket costs for exams or glasses, and we’re happy to check your benefits if you have questions. Our dispensaries are open for eyeglass repairs, and we have voucher funding available for those without insurance.
Again, we know that we are all in unfamiliar territory, and we understand that as this pandemic evolves, we need to evolve with it to continue helping our community. As the premier vision provider in Normandy and in North St. Louis for 40 years, the UMSL Center For Eye Care is proud of the excellent care we provide, and we are grateful for the many patients who continue to trust us with their vision.
