SouthSide’s Parent Coach is a key member of the Family Partnership team. This person is responsible for our parent coaching, case management and family education. This person must be passionate about working with families who are facing adversity, partnering with parents to achieve their goals, and empowering parents to advocate for their child’s education.

Job Summary:

  •  Provides case management services for families:
    • Completes outcomes surveys with families three times per year to identify areas of strengths and areas for support
    • Provides case management services on an as needed basis with families
  • Plans, coordinates and teaches parent programs on the topics of positive parenting skills
  • Implements our six-week individual Parent Coaching program with parents of enrolled students
    • Sets two parenting goals with each parent and provides support, materials, and education needed to reach those goals
    • Administers and compiles data from assessments to measure progress and program impact
  • Completes developmental screenings for enrolled students as needed
  • Translate for home visits, parent/teacher conferences, meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling or related field
  • Master’s in Social Work or related field preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience providing case management services for a diverse population
  • Proficiency in Spanish required
  • Knowledge of Head Start Standards preferred
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of social services for low-income children and families
  • Extensive knowledge of positive parenting skills and developmental parenting
  • Experience leading and teaching parent programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent work ethic, punctuality, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with parents that respect their values, beliefs, and culture.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite. Proficiency in ChildPlus preferred.
  • Ability to work nights and occasional weekends.
